The resort of Nassau is on the 'New Providence Island' found in the beautiful Bahamas in the Caribbean and offers visitors to the Island wonderfully shallow waters, caves to explore and amazing beaches to kick back and chill on.  Nassau has a wonderful history of Pirates, slavery and smuggling, and the town itself is full of historical architecture as well as being a lively young resort with plenty to do and see for all ages. The currency here is the Bahamian Dollar, which is usually around the same as the US dollar.

Who Comes To Nassau?
Nassau has a range of hotels and things to do at a range of prices, with places like Graycliff Hotel (whose restaurant prices can average $500 / €372 / £250 for a meal for two) you will find people from all kinds of classes and backgrounds, however they are all here to have a good time.  Nassau isn't a cheap resort if you look at the eating places and hotels here, however there are plenty of bars and things to do that are of relatively good value.  The majority of visitors you will find here are couples (honeymooners – theres a Sandals resort here) and those with a bit more cash to spend.  The resort is a party place for Americans, although many British holiday goers will be found around the Paradise Beach area or Cable Beach where the nightlife is lively.

When does the Season Begin in Nassau?
Nassau has a rainy season and a hurricane season so it's best to think about the best time to go based on what you want out of your holiday. 

Airport Information
Nassau International Airport is just 16kms / 10m away from Nassau city ensuring a quick transfer time for anyone holidaying there.  You will find a private car transfer can cost from $117 / €87 / £59 to $169 / €126 / £86 for two people, or you could travel in a luxury limousine from $169 / €126 / £86 or taxi's will be between $10 / €7 / £5 to $20 / €14 / £10 (prices depend on your destination in Nassau). 

Nassau Nightlife - Gloriously expensive
Club Waterloo is the place to go if you want to join in with a crowd of varying ages, though at the height of the season you'll be paying around $30 / €22 / £15 entrance; as with most clubs in Nassau for the party animals it's casual dress.

A place to be seen is the Fluid Lounge.  Closed on a Monday, ladies can expect to gain entrance free before midnight (although this too can go up in peak season to around $20).

Fluid Lounge has a VIP area where you can reserve a table with  'bottle service only'.  In the VIP area you can be paying anything from $60 / €44 / £30 for a bottle of plonk (add 10% service charge), you need to reserve this area but if it's Cristal ($700 / €521 / £350) and sophisticated clubbing you want then this is it.

Local Drinks
'Kalik' is a local drink worth a taste.  If you prefer local beers, expect to pay around $2.75 / €2 / £1.40  and the same for international beers with a bottle of house wine around $12 / €9 / £6.

Local Cuisine
When visiting Nassau it's worth trying some fish dishes – they're dotted all over – one that has had some wonderful reviews is 'The Poop Deck' of which there are two – one overlooks Nassau Harbour and the second smaller one is based at Sandyport overlooking the bright blue sea. 

If it's a different taste you're after and then I've heard that the American Themed restaurant 'Senor Frogs' (also found in some popular Mexican resorts) serves up delicious Mexican style food and is hugely popular with tourists of all ages.  This place doesn't stop until around 2am so you could actually stay all day – it's on the waterfront too, so a great location.  Expect one meal to be anything up to $20 / €14 / £10.

As well as a range of eateries, there's a range of prices in restaurants so a good idea is to look out for discount voucher coupons in tourist leaflets.

Boy/Girl Ratio
I'm unsure on this ratio as it seems no such information is available.  However, it's with generality that I mention that this is a holiday resort with plenty of locals, mainly heterosexual, and many couples visit the resort so it's assumed by me that there is more or less an equal ratio of males to females in Nassau.

Nassau Beaches
There are some great beaches in Nassau all with fine white sand and crystal blue waters.  Most are accessible by walking, or by car if your hotel is situated a little further away. 

Cable Beach (around 3kms / 1.8m from Nassau centre) is the main beach and gets extremely busy because of the few major hotels next to it, but the sand here is soft and white there's so much to do. 

Another two worth mentioning are the quieter 'Caves Beach' which doesn't attract quite so many people due to it being a little further away from Nassau, and beautiful Cabbage Beach (3kms / 1.8m) which again gets busy but has lovely white soft sand and is near to hotels and offers lots of water sports activities.
